Window Blinds: Which Type Is Right For Your Home?

With the many different items available with which to cover a window, a homeowner may have a difficult time in choosing one when he/she wants to cover or decorate their windows. One of the more popular window coverings are blinds. Not only are Orange County blinds highly decorative and easy to install but they are also much more affordable than some of the other window dressings out there.

Although a homeowner may narrow the choice down to blinds, there's still the question of which type of blind and which brand of blind to use. While brand often determines quality, the specific type of blind a homeowner chooses must be one that fits both their budget and the needs of their home as well as their personal tastes, making the decision a difficult one. Although there are many different types of Orange County blinds a homeowner can use for their windows there are four types that are more popular than any others.
  • Faux wood blinds: These faux blinds look like real wood but are far less expensive than the real thing. These faux blinds are also extremely durable making them great for bathrooms, kitchens and kids rooms. Furthermore they are moisture resistant and very easy to clean.

  • Real wood blinds: Real wood blinds boast a warm natural look and are available in a wide variety of color options. Real wood blinds are perhaps best at blocking out incoming light and weigh very little. As with all other wood products however, wood blinds tend to crack, rot, and chip away over time so homeowners should be cautious in choosing wood blinds.

  • Aluminum blinds: Aluminum blinds are inexpensive and lightweight. Moreover they are available in a great deal of colors. While not as good as wood blinds with regards to blocking out light, aluminum blinds still do a very good job at keeping light out. These types of blinds however are poor insulators and usually less visually appealing than other types.

  • Vertical blinds: Vertical blinds are most commonly seen on sliding doors and large windows. They are very easy to clean, attractive, hold very little dust and are usually beautifully textured. Homeowners looking for something a little more exuberant however should stay away from vertical blinds as they have a very "standard" look to them.

The Search For High Quality San Diego Shutters

Homeowners looking to replace their shutters with new ones have a daunting task ahead of them. This is especially true of homeowners who desire only high-quality shutters. Due to all the low-end imports from China, among other countries, the shutter market is currently flooded with affordable yet subpar shutters. A homeowner on the hunt for quality will need to utilize the Internet if they are to truly find high-quality shutters.
Homeowners searching for high-quality San Diego shutters will not only be looking for aesthetically pleasing shutters but shutters that are durable as well. High end durable shutters are known for their resiliency to intense heat, cold, moisture and direct sunlight. In sharp contrast low-end import shutters tend to peel, rot, and become ingrained with dirt and even mold after exposure to the aforementioned things for only a short time.

Another problem homeowners have in locating high-quality shutters is the fact that most shutter vendors are by definition no more than middlemen. They play no role in the manufacturing or quality assurance of the San Diego shutters they sell. In fact sales is her only involvement in the process. This can make it difficult for the layperson to not only find high-quality shutters in a store but discern whether or not the shutters their salesperson is pushing are of a high-quality nature. As there are no industry standards for painting, installation, or materials for shutters it's best to look online for high-end quality San Diego shutters.

Many of the online shutter vendors adhere to rigorous standards and sell only the highest quality shutters. Everything from their shutters construction to their decoration and presentation is handled by those specific vendors. Generally speaking anyone who buys high-end shutters from an online vendor will be pleased with not just the durability and sturdy construction of those shutters but the fine aesthetics of them as well.

Eliminating the middleman is not only efficient but it helps ensure quality especially when an individual is on the hunt for new shutters for their home. Even low-end shutters can cost a pretty penny so it's worth a homeowner's time to spend some time online reviewing the numerous shutter vendors that are there.

Los Angeles Shutters: The Essential Series

Our Los Angeles shutters are renowned throughout Southern California for not only their fair pricing and high-end quality but for the many different types of materials they're made from as well. While many individuals/homeowners want to use wood when they replace their old shutters with new ones not all of them can afford nor want the headaches associated with wood shutters.

This is where our "Essential Series" comes into play. Our faux shutters and Polly shutters are two of the most popular types of Los Angeles shutters that we currently manufacture and sell. While both are made from materials other than wood both the faux and Polly shutter not only look just like wood but are well suited for harsh environments and work extremely well in both heat and moisture prone areas. All of our Los Angeles shutters, including those in our "Essential Series", are considered high-end shutters.

Our faux shutter is made from medium density fiber board and has an acrylic coating that has UV inhibitors which protects it from intense sun exposure. These shutters work great in areas that are hot and see the sun regularly. The shutters are also heavier than wood so there are some limitations when it comes to tall and wide openings but overall these shutters are a fantastic alternative to wood. Our Polly shutter on the other hand are extremely moisture resistance and made from a very solid resin which makes it a great shutter for windows near sinks, bathtubs, or showers. They look very similar to basewood shutters and require extremely low maintenance too. This type of shutter has a synthetic vinyl look that satisfies nearly every customer who views one and unless asked, no one will know that these shutters are not made from traditional wood.

Should you have any questions about any of our shutters please be sure to contact us so that we may be of assistance! You'll want to remember that we also offer both Orange County shutters and San Diego shutters as well.
